About usNila Cares is building software for domiciliary care providers - tools to help home care services run better, from day-to-day operations through to compliance and commissioning. We're a small, ambitious team, and we want the product shaped by people who have actually run a service, not just by people who write code. The roleWe're looking for a current or recent CQC Registered Manager with domiciliary care experience to work alongside us as a paid product advisor for a few hours a week. This is not a registered manager post and carries no CQC registration or accountability - it's a consultancy role advising the team building the product. You'd be the voice of the registered manager in the room.
In practice that means: Regular video sessions (typically 2 - 4 hours/week, flexible around your schedule) reviewing product plans, designs and early builds Telling us plainly when something wouldn't survive contact with a real service - a rota, a care plan workflow, a medication record, an audit trail Walking us through how things actually work day to day: rostering and ECM, care planning and reviews, CQC evidence and notifications, safeguarding, LA/ICB commissioning and reporting Sanity-checking our priorities: what would genuinely save a manager time, and what only sounds useful Occasional ad hoc questions over email/WhatsApp between sessions
Requirements
Essential Held a CQC Registered Manager post in domiciliary care / home care in England (current, or within roughly the last 6 months) Managed a service through at least one CQC inspection - ideally rated Good or Outstanding under your management Hands-on experience of local authority and/or ICB-commissioned care (frameworks, spot and block contracts, ECM/call monitoring) Experience using Care Management Software (e.g Birdie, CarePlanner, OneTouch etc) Opinionated, direct, and comfortable telling a product team they've got it wrong Nice to have Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent) Experience of growing a service, mobilising new contracts, or working across multiple locations Experience choosing or implementing care management software (as a buyer/user - you don't need to be technical) Involvement in a Skills for Care registered manager network or local care association Practical details Commitment: 2 - 4 hours/week to start, flexible - sessions arranged around your existing role Term: initial 3 months, extended by mutual agreement Engagement: self-employed consultancy agreement (you invoice us); NDA required Location: fully remote via video call, with occasional in-person meetups (expenses covered) Pay: competitive hourly rate, agreed based on experience Conflicts: you can keep your current role - we'll simply ask you to confirm there's no conflict of interest before we start
