: Strong hands-on SQL expertise, including performance tuningProven experience with Microsoft Fabric and Synapse, including design, architecture, and implementationExperience working with Lakehouse architecture and multiple data sourcesDemonstrable experience modernising data platforms, such as moving from Bronze to Gold maturity, or consolidating data into a central platformStrong understanding of data engineering principles, governance, and data qualityExperience delivering and supporting production-grade data solutionsAbility to act as a senior technical escalation point and lead deliveryStrong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly around data quality challengesMicrosoft certifications such as DP-600 or DP-900Experience managing or mentoring engineers, or readiness to step into leadershipExposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices within data engineeringExperience in complex or enterprise environments Responsibilities: Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines within Microsoft Fabric across Lakehouse, Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, and Data IntegrationRefine and enhance existing pipelines and architecture to align with best practiceLead the transition of our platform from Bronze to Gold standardDevelop and fine-tune complex SQL queries, transformations, and data modelsSupport and troubleshoot data issues impacting reporting, such as Power BI refresh failuresTake ownership of data quality, governance, and platform reliabilityAct as the technical escalation point for our team of Data EngineersLead, mentor, and support a small team of 3 engineersWork across multiple data sources, including enterprise systems and bespoke applications, feeding into a LakehouseEngage stakeholders across the business to improve data quality and consistency Technologies: CI/CDData WarehouseDevOpsFabricSupportPower BISQL More: We are offering a transformational Lead Data Engineer role with hybrid working, requiring 2 to 4 days per month in our East London or Essex office, and a salary of up to £75k. We already have Microsoft Fabric in place, and our focus is now on maturing the environment over the next 12 to 18 months, improving architecture, data quality, and overall platform capability. This is a hands-on leadership position where we are looking for someone to act as the senior technical escalation point, help shape best practice, refine existing pipelines, and drive data modernisation across a complex data landscape.
